Poem detailed explanation:
So for the background you need to understand that I've been living in Ireland for a few years, and the basic weather of Ireland is rain, nearly every day, all the time! Some people might find that gloomy or horrendous, or even depressing, but as there must always be an exception, I really like it, and now that I've been back in my home country and that since I've been here for 3 months, there has not been a single rain drop, and I'm starting to miss it
So if you watch the picture, that inspired this poem, you see that it's quite a pain for this girl to be standing in the rain all by herself. And I wanted to try to find excuses or reasons for why she would do that, and one of those was that she maybe wants to purify herself because she has done something naughty. Then after finding the reason I went back to something more factual, which is that when you're out in the rain, you really are being hit by the rain and not the opposite, and it can hit you pretty hard sometimes. To finish with a simple sentence saying that rain is essential! Without it no irrigation, not possible to collect water for houses, and so on.
I only emphasize the importance of rain in the second paragraph! My love of rain goes a long way, and people just don't understand my fascination with it! I can stay to look at a rain storm for the longest time, and I will never be bored!
So as said before the rain can do so much! Water the crops, wash you, bring you snow, and the general idea here is that it brings life! Because everyone knows that where water is, life is too.
But people don't react that way, they see the rain as an inconvenience, that you have to cover yourself, that you have to bring out the umbrella, that it can bring floods, and of course if you drink bad water it can bring you severe diseases.
Like I said before I wanted to emphasize event more the fact that most people consider the rain as an inconvenience. By mentioning that when the rains falls, umbrellas open, just like a shelter.
Then to be a little more specific and also give a few example of the futility of what we're protecting ourselves from. The first one, hairs, some people are tremendously sensitive to their hairs, and that's something I cannot really understand… Spending a long time combing your hair in just the right fashion, is futile to me, and even if i can understand that if it's a big occasion and you've done a special effort on your appearance and you don't want to ruin it. Also makeup! Already the name speaks for itself! Makeup! It's to make up for things you don't really have, and certainly will never have… And to understand my utter repulsion concerning makeup you also have to know me and my tastes. I love girls in their true form, I don't like barbie dolls, and I will never kiss a girl with lipstick, because I not kissing her lips but the lipstick instead.
Talking about me a little bit longer… In this paragraph my whole self is shown to the reader! I like simple things, even though I love technology, my taste in girls, food, and other subject is always simple. A drop of rain doesn't have anything to hide, it's bare and it's beautiful! It doesn't try to be something it's not and I like that!
Then just to resume the whole thing in 3 sentences. Feeling its touch is like feeling the touch of nature itself, and that's something that cannot be achieved easily, or else I'm just too romantic. Rain as previously said brings life, and except for moms, I don't know much other people or things that can do it. And finally embrace simplicity, is just what I wanted to convey, nothing more, nothing less.
