Poem detailed explanation:
This is a poem that as I said is near and dear to me because it tackles the subject of "normality". I don't even like that word, normality… What is normal? Why are we always told that we're not normal? That's something I just cannot wrap my head around… Well concerning the poem, I start from the principle that everyone is different and being so, saying that I'm strange means that I'm not like everyone, but even if this fact is true for every human beings, this adjective is used when someone is just so different that we cannot understand it.
And the whole poem is written with the following idea in mind, and that is that to be normal you need to think and act like everyone else, then you'll be normal, and the following few paragraphs are to show that I personally don't want to be normal, normal is boring.
Because I like to think about all the possibilities to an end, or take an idea and try to elaborate on it, doesn't take everything that's said to me for granted, and don't follow blindly, I am considered as not normal, that's a bit harsh and really sad at the same time, because it should definitely be the other way around.
I like to create, I like to write and share my work with the people, I like to give it to the people, that's why all my writings as well as all the drawings I've commissioned to represent them are under a creative common license which gives anyone the permission to take my work, modify it, and make something new and great on it, to the condition of course that they mention that I'm the original author. I'm not really a partisan of full copyright, it's just too selfish. So fellow listeners go out and create, just don't forget to say that you got it from me.
You might have noticed that I have quite a few poems on love, and that is because I love to love, and not only in the sense to love girls, but love everything, will it be inanimate like a tree, or animals, etc… There's just too many people hating already to do the same.
Well there's a little wink to the emo group, I certainly can be emo sometimes, but I'm not constantly like that, I don't think that being sad and depressed all the time is a good way to live your life. It's way better to go out, and even if it's raining, love the rain, and just be happy to be there.
Then a bit of more obvious stuff, I'm certainly strange, but to what degree? I don't know but I certainly have been described as strange so many times that I can hardly remember them, so I would say to a considerable extent.
For me everyone is special, because everyone has something different that someone else has not, and this makes everyone worth knowing. Of course there are people which are less interesting that others, but they don't need to be put to the side just because of that.
To finish I just wanted to say that I like being special, I like being strange, and I would not see myself any other way than that.
