Doll

inanimate body,
Taking life,
Under the hands of the craftsman,

Then chosen by the child,
Who gives her a heart,
Who would never separate,

Then time passes,
And from the shelf,
Where she proudly throne,
She observes,
The child grow,

Then one day,
It will descend of this podium
Where for a time,

She had a shape,
She had a heart,
She had a goal.

Poem detailed explanation:

This poem is quite old, and I don't remember much of it, but I'll try my best. This idea I think came from my memories of pinocchio, but also extrapolating and imagining what the life of a doll could be like if ever it was alive. Now that I think of it I remember that this was mostly inspired by the anime "Rozen Maiden" which I recommend everyone of you watch because it's awesome! In a nutshell it's the story of a boy who's completely associal and doesn't want to leave his room during the whole day every day. He lives with his sister, which is a model of virtue, and she tries to take care of him the best she can. His favorite time killing activity is to buy crap on the internet, and then send it back, to not have to pay. And once he fills in a form on the net, that says something dodgy, and obviously he agrees, and suddently a box appears in his room with a doll in it, and that's how to story starts.
Now concerning the poem, I first wanted to describe what a doll actually was. And so I started by saying that it's an Inanimate body, but in a poetic way you could easily imagine that the person who made it, put all his love and dedication into it, and so even it's inanimate it's alive.
Now apart from rare cases a doll is for kids, so I went on saying that one day or the other, a kid or a parent looking for a present is going to enter the shop, and buy the doll. After the doll is home, the kid will certainly play with it a lot, and even start to give her a name, invent its background and so on, making it even more alive.
Then as all humans do, the kid will grow and the doll with be put on a shelf during some time to decorate the room. But as we agreed that it's alive, then it's also watching the kid, we could even say watching over the kid.
Then when the kid is no longer a kid but a teenager, and quits the parents house, it will be discarded as no longer relevant for the age of the teenager. But I say that in a more poetic way, saying that during all this time this doll played with you, comforted you, watched over you, and the only thing you did was discard it, it's a little cruel.
So that's the sad life of a doll, damn now this gave me the will to go and watch this anime again! :D

It really probably was inspired from Rozen Maiden and my drawing was inspired by RM aswell xDD
I watched the first episode and found it interesting but haven't had the time to watch more :C will have to catch up with that!

anyways for the poem

the beginning is really wonderful. It does remind me of Pinocchio aswell indeed! and it's true... basicaly even pictures, sculptures take life under the hands of artists. Hence the meaning a picture is worth a thousand words. My opinion.

children really are like that indeed! I also loved to give names (tho I prefered stuffed animals to dolls and barbie girls xD) but it makes you feel as if it's a part of your world, thus is alive!

I personaly find the nex part of the poem really really beautiful and touching! Has kind of a bittersweet touch to it. Since it's actually all alone, yet the doll still stays "true" to it's kid/master
sounds really beautiful and I kinda became all mushy for a second while I read that part!

tho the last 2 parts are even more mushy! so heart touching. Makes me wanna slap that kid that left it just like that ;__;
Even I myself feel terrible sometimes when I look at all my plushies just watching from the shelves ;_; tho I'm pretty atached to them so whenever we had a chance to give them away I didn't let that happen xDDD
you never know how other kids will "torture" those plushies you loved and cared for like they were really alive!

just such a cruel end yet magnificent!

all in all I really love this poem since it's abit bittersweet which adds to the emotional part you feel while reading the poem.

really nice one!
